Pensions in Australia

Arguably one of best Australia employee benefits, the Australian government provides its workers with a superannuation fund, which acts as a pension upon retirement. The law requires companies to put away 10% of their employees’ salaries into this fund. This 10% is on total compensation which includes the base salary plus any shift premiums, commissions, bonuses, paid time off, and allowances. 

 

As this is already an excellent benefit, contributions from employees over and beyond the minimum are welcome but not required. 

 

Ordinarily, superannuation payments are not included in a salary agreement. 

Australia Healthcare Benefits

Medicare is Australia’s national health insurance programme, which covers all Australian citizens, permanent residents, and some international tourists. Private hospitals and specialty clinics are part of the private healthcare system, which relies on premiums paid by individuals, businesses, and government programmes to provide care.
