Do I need a Work Permit or Visa to work in Greece?
Whilst Agility EOR does not generally “sponsor” Greece Work Permits (this practice is not always compatible with the EOR/PEO model), we can generally support candidates needing a work visa in Greece.
The Greek government requires non-EU workers to obtain a Type D visa in advance of their arrival, which will allow them to work in the country for longer than 90 days.
A Greece work permits application must be submitted to the appropriate Greek municipal office or police station within 30 days of an employee’s arrival in the country. Work permits are valid for one year and must be renewed no later than 60 days before expiration.
Unless exempt, most business travellers to Greece use a Greek adaptation of the Schengen C Visa. The maximum allowed time in the Schengen Area within 180 days is 90 days. In general, business trips can only last a few days, with the exact length of time being decided by the Greek authorities on a case-by-case basis.
