Work Permits in Jersey

As a British Crown Dependency, Jersey has its own immigration policies separate from the United Kingdom. Foreign nationals who wish to work in Jersey must obtain the appropriate visa or work permit, depending on their nationality and the nature of their employment.

Some common work permits and visas for foreign nationals in Jersey include:

  • Work Permit: Non-European Economic Area (EEA) nationals who have a job offer from a Jersey employer may apply for a work permit. The employer must prove that no suitable EEA or Swiss candidate is available for the position.
  • Registered or Licensed Work: EEA and Swiss nationals who intend to work in Jersey must obtain registered or licensed work status. The employer must apply for this on behalf of the employee.

It is important to note that British citizens and those with Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK can live and work in Jersey without any restrictions.
