Find out all about employing in Poland
Pensions in Poland
The statutory pension benefit in Poland is referred to as “Emerytura,” and the employer is required to contribute 9.76% of the employee’s gross salary to the social security system, which includes pensions. The employee also contributes 6.5% of their gross salary.
In Poland, some employers do offer additional pension contributions on top of the statutory contributions. These supplementary pensions, known as “dodatkowe ubezpieczenia emerytalne” in Polish, are typically offered as part of an employee’s benefits package and are designed to supplement the statutory pension. However, not all employers offer this benefit, and it varies depending on the company and the employee’s role.
Poland Healthcare Benefits
To those who qualify, medical care in Poland is provided at no cost by the publicly funded health care system known as the Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia (usually meaning that they have health insurance paid for by their employer, or they are the spouse or child of an insured person).
Additional private health insurance benefits are not required, but they have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially among top-level employees in densely populated areas.
