How does Payroll in Poland work?

Pay your staff once a month

In Poland there is only a requirement to pay salary in 12 equal instalments, and there is no mandatory 13th month payment. Salaries should be received by the 10th of the following month at the latest.

Discretionary bonuses

Bonuses are generally defined as discretionary, and therefore not required to be placed in the contract of employment.

National minimum wage

Poland’s mandatory minimum wage is PLN 19.70 per hour, or the monthly equivalent of PLN 3,010 for a full time employee.

Our approach

It is common in Poland to pay employees once per month, and Agility EOR make the payment on the last working day of every month. You can also agree whether overtime should be paid (this is not a requirement so long as they receive the national minimum wage rate) or given as time off in lieu.

Tax in Poland

Poland employers’ costs include:

  • 9.76% – Pension Fund 
  • 6.50% – Disability Insurance 
  • 0.67% to 3.33% – Accident Insurance
  • 2.45% – Labour Fund 
  • 0.10% – Guaranteed Benefits Fund 

Contributions towards pension fund and disability insurance combined are capped at PLN 157,770. 

Employees are also required to attend a mandatory preventative medical examination and occupational health and safety training prior to starting work, which is paid for by the employer.

Payrolling the employees is a key part of the service offered by an employer of record company. The EOR will calculate and remit all taxes, social securities and similar payments, on behalf of both employer and employee. The client will be invoiced in advance by the EOR company, for the total cost of the payroll.
