Teleworking in Portugal

Teleworking costs being covered by the employer is a statutory employee benefit in Portugal which is starting to become more common across the global. Laws in Portugal dictate that the software and tools required for remote work in Portugal must be provided by the employer, and employers are required to pay for the costs associated with the use and upkeep of such equipment by their employees too. To meet this requirement, the majority of employers offer a monthly allowance of between EUR 40 and EUR 60. In addition, there are provisions for the equipment. 

Portugal Healthcare Benefits

The Public Health Service (Servico Nacional de Saude, SNS), which reports to the Ministry of Health (Ministério de Saude), administers healthcare. Although Portugal has a public health system, employees with supplemental health insurance have access to a wider selection of providers and specialists and experience significantly shorter wait times.

Meal Allowance in Portugal

One of the most popular of all the Portugal employee benefits, is a monthly meal card or lunch allowance being provided to the employee. The daily allowance, which varies between EUR 4.77 and 7.63, is paid according to the number of working days.
