Do I need a Work Permit or Visa to work in South Africa?

Whilst Agility EOR does not generally “sponsor” Work Permits (this practice is not always compatible with the EOR/PEO model), we can generally support candidates needing a work visa in South Africa.

In South Africa, if you’re not a citizen or permanent resident, you’ll need a work permit to be able to legally work in the country. The process for getting a work permit can vary depending on the type of permit you need and your specific circumstances.

Generally, you’ll need to have a job offer from a South African employer, and the employer will have to apply for the permit on your behalf. The application process can take some time and there’s a lot of paperwork involved. Once the permit is issued, it will need to be renewed annually.

It’s worth noting that there are different types of work permits available, such as general work permits, critical skills work permits, and intra-company transfer permits, each with its own set of requirements and application process.

It’s also worth noting that it can be quite challenging to get a work permit in South Africa, due to the country’s high unemployment rate and the government’s focus on prioritizing job opportunities for citizens.
