In general the working day in Spain is split into two halves, the day commences at 9am until 2pm and 5pm to 8pm, with the famous “siesta” in between. Furthermore, many businesses end the working day early on Fridays.

Some of the main areas of economic activity are the automotive industry, medical technology, chemicals, shipbuilding, tourism, and the textile industry.
In Spain, the family is the fundamental social unit, and you'll discover that Spanish people place a high importance on connections and integrity in the workplace. Many businesses are run the Spanish way. In essence, they support clearly defined divisions and a rigid hierarchical structure. In management, individualism tends to be more prevalent and teamwork is less valued.

Do's
- Understand that people’s concept of time and punctuality is not the same as it is in other western nations.
- Accept that your employees may work late. 8pm is not uncommon.
- Stick to dealing with your counterpart during negotiations
- Shake hands with everyone present in the same meeting
- Address people by their surname, prefixed with senor, senora, or senorita
- If your Spanish counterparts have two first names, you should use both when addressing them whether they are male or female
Dont's
- Don’t go above another employees head. Get your manager to go to their manager
- Try to discuss business before the coffee arrives!
- Greet with a kiss on both cheeks unless you know them well
- Give an expensive gift – food or drink is usually adequate

Frequently Asked Questions
Payrolling the employees is a key part of the service offered by an employer of record company. The EOR will calculate and remit all taxes, social securities and similar payments, on behalf of both employer and employee. The client will be invoiced in advance by the EOR company, for the total cost of the payroll.
Yes. Our clients are free to dictate the structure of the employees’ remuneration including any bonuses or commissions they wish to offer. In some countries, there is a statutory requirement to provide “bonuses”, for example in the form of Christmas or holiday allowances.
