Do I need a Work Permit or Visa to work in Sweden?

Whilst Agility EOR does not generally “sponsor” Work Permits (this practice is not always compatible with the EOR/PEO model), we can generally support candidates needing Swedish work permit.

In the event that an employee has long-term resident status in another EU country and also meets the criteria for long-term resident status in Sweden, the employee may submit an application to have their status transferred from their former country to Sweden. 

Anyone from outside the European Union who wants to work in Sweden needs to meet the following requirements to be granted a Swedish work permit:

 

  • Have obtained an advanced level degree* 
  • Be looking for employment 
  • Be financially stable enough to fund your travel home and living expenses throughout the time you’re requesting a visa. 
  • Have full coverage medical insurance that is accepted in Sweden 
  • Have a passport that is valid for the entirety of your stay in Sweden 
  • Be outside of Sweden at the time of application 

* An advanced degree is one that is either a Master’s (with 60 credits) or a Doctorate (with 120 credits) or a professional degree (with 60-330 credits).

Payrolling the employees is a key part of the service offered by an employer of record company. The EOR will calculate and remit all taxes, social securities and similar payments, on behalf of both employer and employee. The client will be invoiced in advance by the EOR company, for the total cost of the payroll.

Yes. Our clients are free to dictate the structure of the employees’ remuneration including any bonuses or commissions they wish to offer. In some countries, there is a statutory requirement to provide “bonuses”, for example in the form of Christmas or holiday allowances.
