UK Pension

All employers (regardless of size) are required to automatically enrol eligible workers into a pension scheme and pay minimum pension contributions of 3% of qualifying earnings for these workers (commonly known as “auto-enrolment”). 

Higher earning individuals would usually expect to be offered more than the minimum employer contributions as part of their employment offer.

UK Healthcare Benefits

In the UK, the National Health Service (NHS) is a government-funded healthcare system that everyone living in the UK can use without being asked to pay the full cost of the service. This includes visiting a doctor for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment at a hospital if you are unwell or injured.

The NHS is ‘publicly funded’, with most of the money collected through UK residents paying tax. In light of the current pressures on the NHS and increased waiting times, increasing numbers of employers are now considering private healthcare options to ensure that employees can get fast access to healthcare advice and treatment when they need it most.

With private healthcare, it is not uncommon to have a restriction applied in respect of covering pre-existing conditions. Company-paid premiums are subject to Benefit in Kind (‘P11D’) taxation, and most corporate schemes are “fully insured” with premiums set annually. Treatment is often received faster than through the NHS, and there may be opportunities for the employee to choose to work with a particular specialist.

These policies are quite straightforward to set up in the UK and the minimum criteria is normally two employees. Policies can be set up on a company-paid or employee-paid basis, and monthly costs typically range from £10 to £50 per member depending on the level of cover required.

Payrolling the employees is a key part of the service offered by an employer of record company. The EOR will calculate and remit all taxes, social securities and similar payments, on behalf of both employer and employee. The client will be invoiced in advance by the EOR company, for the total cost of the payroll.

Yes. Our clients are free to dictate the structure of the employees’ remuneration including any bonuses or commissions they wish to offer. In some countries, there is a statutory requirement to provide “bonuses”, for example in the form of Christmas or holiday allowances.
