To put it simply, a global professional employer organisation (PEO) is a company that allows you to expand into territories that you don’t have an entity in. HR, payroll, benefits, taxes, stock options, and compliance are all handled by a Global PEO.
Essentially the two are interchangeable. PEO is a term that those in the US will be familiar with and is used where employers have a US entity, but want to pool with other PEO employees for improved (and cheaper) benefits. Employer of Record (EOR) is where you don’t have an entity in a particular territory, and you want the EOR to employ them on your behalf. Agility EOR is a hybrid of both, offering the HR and payroll functions of a PEO, as well as being the Employer of Record for your employee.
